Our space
Rubys Yard site is a seven minute walk from the centre of Atherstone, a rural and historic market town.
The site has a large flat lawn for outdoor recreation or camping, direct access to the canal via a concrete slipway and wooden jetty, and a toilet and wash block. There is also overnight parking for up to 4 vehicles, all inside a secure perimeter fence.
This unique and scenic little hideaway offers
the privacy to try out new activities and develop new skills
a base for outdoor education about the canal and adjacent woodland
an opportunity to camp and sleep beneath the stars
direct access to the Westwood Road recreation ground
space for community workshops and gatherings
It’s a space for outdoor learning, nature based education, and recreation activities which promote physical fitness and mental well being.

2 large event tents [x15 persons each], barbecue and outdoor games equipment such as badminton, boules, giant Jenga, picnic tables and chairs.

From our back gate, step out onto the North Arden Heritage trail http://www.northardenheritagetrail.co.uk. Walk for miles and find hours of adventure rambling or orienteering.

Across the canal bridge and just opposite the site lies Westwood Road Recreation ground which has a basket ball pitch, space to play games of football or rounders, and family play areas.
Rubys Yard is also a place where you can volunteer, connect with others in the community, and get involved.
We need volunteers or organisations who can lead or supervise different activities, teach or can help build, grow, and look after the site.
